	究屋是我常去的古物店，在這種地方做展覽感覺很好。房間有一排西曬的鋁窗，窗戶本身還沒舊到可以做成買賣，但它引入的日線可以為室內物件添上一種光輝，一種在古物店內透過大量年份與風格錯置後才得以容易看見，日光反射自物件的光輝。


我在《徒勞作為一種方法》這件作品裡提出了一種對於詩性方法論的可能性。徒勞在那裏被我定義成是「徒勞而無功，付出與收穫不平衡的一種生產狀態。」但我的命題並不總是能夠精確。我想開啟多一些詩性方法的可能：「留戀作為一種方法」及「材料作為一種方法」是我這次在展覽裡所做的嘗試。
	

Jiū Space

is an antique shop I visit often, and it feels fitting to hold an exhibition in a place like this. The room has a row of aluminum windows facing the west. The windows themselves are not old enough to be objects of trade, yet the lines of sunlight they draw into the space add a certain radiance to the interior objects—a kind of glow that becomes more easily perceptible in an antique shop, where years and styles overlap and dislocate in abundance, allowing the reflected daylight to reveal itself through the surfaces of things.


In my work “be in vain” I proposed a possible methodological approach to poeticity. There, I defined futility as “a mode of production in which effort and outcome are disproportionate—labor that leads to little or no result.” Yet my propositions are not always definitive or precise. I hope instead to open up more possibilities for poetic methods. “linger as Method” and “Material as Method” are the two approaches I explored in this exhibition.

	在「完整監視」的監視配置下，16頻道的閉路攝影鏡頭對向單一物件，


在此攝影系統的最大技術程度裡一次呈現單一物件最多的面相。監視者可以在同一時間同時觀看單一物件之不同觀測角度的同時樣態，避免以肉眼進行全面環視時的觀測時間差。使立體物件以扁平的姿態被最大程度地凝視。

	
	In the "full surveillance" configuration, the 16-channel closed-circuit camera is aimed at a single object. 
In the highest technical level of this photographic system, the most faces of a single object are presented at once. Audience can watch the simultaneous state of a single object from different observation angles at the same time, avoiding the observation time difference by naked eye. Make the three-dimensional object in a flat posture to be gazed to the greatest extent.

	在「個別監視」的監視配置下，16頻道的閉路攝影鏡頭個別對向16件不同物件。
在原計畫的理想狀態下，每一個分割畫面中會各別呈現一個物件，並同時呈現於監視器螢幕上。
而在本次的展覽呈現中，因為攝影機焦距和場地配置的取捨，形成了在單一攝影機的分割畫面中，同時出現了複數物件的觀測狀態。個別監視之企圖被空間和硬體等因素破壞，反而成為了一種「監視重複」的狀態。
	

In the configuration of "individual monitoring", the 16-channel closed-circuit cameras are individually directed to 16 different objects.In the the original plan, an object will be presented in each split screen and all of them will be presented on the monitor screen at the same time.
But in this exhibition, due to the 

focal length

 of camera  and space configuration, the observation state of multiple objects appears simultaneously in each split screen. 

attempt of individual surveillance is disrupted by factors such as space and hardware, becoming a state of "monitoring repetition".

空間與空間內部之物件是為被凝視的對象。透過閉路監視系統，當監視者觀看監視系統的畫面時，監視者感到自己可以掌控空間與內部物件，這便是一個完成監視者動機的「有效監視狀態」。監視者對於閉路攝影系統的信任以及依賴，使其成為超越監視者肉體自身的外部器官，為監視者拓展、完成一整個監視系統的運作。於此同時，空間內部其實仍然存在其他種監視狀態的可能。在未被注意、或無法被監視器看見的地方，以至於空間內部的物件，可能反倒與閉路監視系統形成一種協作，在為空間建制化的過程中產生陰影、視覺死角。監視者所認為的有效監視，可能只是空間與空間內部物件所提供的其中一種觀看樣態而已，並非是全部的視覺結構的可能。

在「Surveillance Success」的系統規劃中，我使用一套 16 頻道閉路監視系統呈現一種空間與監視者之間誤讀的可能——監視攝影機的投影畫面將投射於被監視空間的外側。觀眾在投影畫面中將無法看見任何東西。但當觀眾直接進入空間時，卻可以發現空間的正中間存在一盆小盆栽，這一盆小盆栽存在於空間中所有監視器的共同死角，因而無法被投映在畫面上。


The space and the objects within it are positioned as objects of the gaze. Through a closed-circuit surveillance system, the observer, while viewing the monitor, may feel capable of controlling both the space and the objects it contains. This constitutes an “effective state of surveillance,” in which the observer’s intention to monitor appears to be fulfilled.

The observer’s trust in and reliance on the closed-circuit camera system transforms it into an external organ that extends beyond the physical limits of the observer’s own body, expanding their perceptual reach and completing the operation of the surveillance apparatus. At the same time, however, other possible states of surveillance continue to exist within the space. In places that remain unnoticed or cannot be seen by the cameras, the objects within the space may instead enter into a form of collaboration with the surveillance system, producing shadows and visual blind spots as the space is systematized and brought under control. What the observer understands as effective surveillance may therefore be only one mode of viewing made available by the space and its objects, rather than the totality of its possible visual structures.

In the system designed for Surveillance Success, I use a sixteen-channel closed-circuit surveillance system to present the possibility of a misreading between the space and the observer. The images captured by the surveillance cameras are projected outside the monitored space. Viewers are unable to see anything in the projected images. Yet upon entering the space itself, they discover a small potted plant positioned at its center. The plant occupies a blind spot shared by all of the surveillance cameras and therefore cannot appear in the projected image.

	在本次提出的系列配置中，我將16支監視攝影機並列排放，並且於各攝影機前方夾持我預先準備好的、拍攝於本次展覽空間中那些適合設置監視器的位置之觀看視野的影像輸出—–我稱之為教材，使其呈現一種「學習狀態」：學員面同一方向，齊肩併座、接受學習目標內容的灌輸。僅有一張照片因為人為的疏失，使得場地的盆栽無意間進入了攝影機的視野。

在過去三件系列實踐中，監視攝影機是監視人員的視覺延伸，如同義眼強化觀看能力的同時，也代表著監視人員的權力延伸進入空間。而在本次提出的「學習監視」中，我嘗試引進一些類似人員訓練的模擬。在本次的配置下，監視攝影機或許不再是某一個監視人員的義眼，鏡頭所要成為的是攝影機自己的眼睛。而當身為觀眾的我們，在場地外圍觀看攝影機的觀看時，我們不是在觀看自己的監視，而是監視它人的觀看。觀眾才是監視器。

	
	In the configuration presented in this series, I arranged sixteen surveillance cameras in a row. In front of each camera, I placed a printed image—what I call instructional material—showing the field of view that each camera would have had if installed in the exhibition space at positions typically suited for surveillance. The alignment evokes a “learning state”: trainees facing the same direction, sitting shoulder to shoulder, receiving an identical set of instructional content. Only one photograph contains a visual anomaly—a potted plant accidentally entering the frame due to human oversight.

In my previous three works within this series, surveillance cameras functioned as the visual extensions of the surveillant. Like prosthetic eyes, they enhanced the viewer’s vision while simultaneously extending the viewer’s power into the space. In this new proposal, Learning Surveillance, I attempted to introduce a sense of simulated personnel training. Within this configuration, the cameras are no longer prosthetic eyes of a human operator; rather, the lens becomes the camera’s own eye.

As viewers standing outside the installation and observing the cameras’ act of “looking,” we are no longer watching our own surveillance. Instead, we are witnessing the surveillance of someone else’s gaze. In this scenario, it is the viewers who become the surveillant.

	所謂生活的痕跡，除了個體主動留下的紀錄如文字、造物、因生活於該空間而產生的物件碰撞痕跡以外，也包含了被動性質的紀錄物件。
購物索取的發票即是一例。

	
如果有一個人，跟在自己的後面不斷撿拾自己遺留下的發票，那麼他可以透過這些東西知道我一周去超商幾次、我都在幾點去超市、我喜歡吃什麼菜、我喝的啤酒牌子、我的生活圈大致在哪、我多久買一次保險套、我看了些什麼書 ... ... 云云。


我在2016年結束於日本為期一年的交換留學，順勢做了這一項為期一年的計畫：我蒐集了生活中所產生的交易證明，並將其依照地點和時間排列整齊。這些收據大概只佚失了10%左右，也就是約莫九成的生存證明都在這邊了。是我在日本生活一年的證明。

	無論是面對面的對話、或是透過虛擬世界的即時通訊，都因為中間介質用極短的時間完成傳遞的工作
讓我們有「交談於現在」的錯覺。但實際上，當承載思想的語言離開主體的瞬間，不論是聲音、還是數據，

都已經成為往事，化為上一秒的歷史。我們一直以來的交談，其實都是在與歷史對話，而非眼前的對象。


當個體開始對話，在你一言我一語，透過特定媒介進行思想的傳遞之後，交流與互動則會在傳遞媒介中留下痕跡，不管是日常生活的交談、無意義的雜噪、甚至是極具深度的思想刻劃，都會「交織」而成為歷史。裝置中的帶狀紙圈，是對話的媒介，也是交織歷史的載具。


這是一個試圖「極小化歷史的創造過程；也同時極大化交談的時間差」的實驗裝置，來證明：我們所認為的現在，其實都早已過去。我們生活在自己一舉一動一言一語的歷史中。

time lag experiment : single ver. / 時間差實驗單機版

	為了在有限的場地呈現「時間差實驗」這件作品，我決定對其形式做必要地修改。
我將打字機縮減為一
台，紙捲向上延伸3.5公尺高，
約是打印在紙捲上的文字逐漸上升時，最後無法被完整閱讀的高度。

	
這件裝置在經過一周的展期後，以一種俱發言與紀錄裝置的姿態，
記錄下所有使用過裝置的觀眾所有的發言。
紙捲不斷在一周內重複迴轉，觀眾發言的對象由眼前的對象轉換為未知，
抑或是不知名的另一位觀眾於過去留下的痕跡，形成同一地點的時間差對話。
